Our program works to help students become engaged learners, have healthy confidence, and strong social and problem-solving skills, as well as an understanding and excitement about their place in the world.

What Do School Counselors Do?

School counselors are here to support every single student in the building. Counselors do the following:

  • Teach classroom lessons to all students about a variety of counseling-related topics

  • Run group counseling activities to support student growth

  • Provide brief, solution-focused individual counseling to support students academic and social/emotional success

  • Provide support during crises

  • Collaborate with school staff, families, and community organizations to support students

  • Make referrals for appropriate community resources

School counselors do not:

  • Take disciplinary action

  • Tell parents/guardians or teachers what to do

  • Provide long-term therapy.
